Thanksgiving Recipes

Recipes today have changed from what Native American and Colonial Americans were used to eating.  Fast food has drastically changed the history of food.  Refrigeration and the availability of foods from around the world make it easy for us to adapt our menu to our favorite foods without having to base our menu on when a particular food is in season.  The Native American's introduced many new foods and recipes and helped the colonists survive.

How did the Pilgrims dress and what did they eat for their first Thanksgiving meal?

They all didn't show up in black and white wearing shoes and hats decorated with buckles.  Their menu didn't include plump turkey, corn, cranberries, mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie - and they didn't eat with forks.  To see what was on the original Thanksgiving menu check the Thanksgiving Recipe page.  Check what Native American recipes and foods are like in their section.  Some recipes have been adapted to use commonly available ingredients.

Sections will be added for various categories of historical recipes.
