bulletCalderon's Company - A 16th Century New World Garrison, is a group of living-historians based at De Soto National Memorial, in Bradenton, Florida. The organization is named after Captain Pedro Calderón, who was left in charge of the base camp and port, when Hernando de Soto began his entrada into La Florida in June of 1539.

Part of a collection of pages that discuss the contributions of Hispanics to the USA. Useful for old contact information, even with broken links and missing graphics.
bulletLiving History Society at the Mission San Juan Capistrano - This page is part of the larger Mission San Juan Capistrano site and contains info on their Living History Society and when they present. Within the larger site, there are event listings, historical info and pictures of the mission. There is also an application to be admitted to the Society.
bulletOriginal drawings of 1720 Soldados de Cuera - The Palace of the Governors in Santa Fe, NM has the Segasser Hide Paintings on display. This is the only place on the web where I've found any representations of these important 1720 drawings. Click on the thumbnail to bring up a bigger picture.
bulletPrimer Batallón Ligero de Voluntarios de Aragón - This is the home page of one of the few reenacting groups in Spain, and therefore a rare site. Napoleonic era, with pictures from the Museum of the Army in Madrid of extreme interest to Spanish Colonial reenactors.
bulletSoldados listserver on Yahoo! Groups - This is a discussion listserv, with historians, reenactors and illustrators as members. There are also pictures and articles to download, as well as an event calendar.
bullet Spanish Colonial Troops in Canada - This article, by René Chartrand, contains detailed information on the 1st Company of Catalonian Volunteers, stationed in Nootka, Alaska, along with uniform descriptions and paintings by David Rickman.
bulletSpanish Marines - a short history - This unofficial site for the Marine Corps of Spain has some history and pictures of interest to Spanish Colonial reenactors, especially the uniform pictures at the end of the page.
bulletWills of a Father and Son and A Contribution to the American Revolution - This article, written by a descendiente (Virginia Sanchez) describes her research into the wills of New Mexican soldados around 1800. The equipment that is listed in the wills makes this very useful to the Spanish Colonial (Presidial) reenactor. In addition, there are links to books on the sidebar that also might be of interest to more general Spanish Colonial history. Unfortunately, there are broken links on this and other pages within larger 1stBooks site, including the link for Virginia's genealogy page (http://thern.home.att.net/).

bulletHippolyte Bouchard attacks San Juan Capistrano Mission - The "privateers" of the magazine No Quarter Given annually commemorate the attack on Mision San Juan Capistrano. Interesting pictures on this page, notice that the only casualty at the 1998 event was one of the raiders.
bulletRancho Camulos Museum - The Rancho Camulos Museum is located on the site of the rancho founded in 1859, which was originally part of the Rancho San Francisco. This also known as the 'Home of Ramona' (The novel 'Ramona' is about the Rancho period) and is Ventura County (CA)'s first National Historic Landmark.
bulletSan Antonio Living History Association - The San Antonio Living History Association (SALHA) makes Texas History come alive. They portray both sides of the conflict of the Texas Revolution. ¡Viva Mexico!
bulletSan Jacinto Battle Reenactment - 2001, The Texian Heritage Society, Inc. - These couple of pages contain pictures mostly Mexican troops with artillery. This is part of the larger, framed THS site, which has references, links and articles, mostly on the Filibustero (gringo) side.
bulletSan Pasqual Battlefield Site Location Project - Archeology and information on the site near San Diego where the Californios defeated the US 1st Cavalry, including information and pictures on other Battle Day celebrations.
bulletSan Patrucio Batallion - Documentary & link to movie - Mark Day has put together a documentary on the Irish soldiers who deserted to the Mexican side during the invasion of Mexico (Mexican-American War). This framed site has content on the San Patrucio's, information about the documentary, as well as info & links about the movie "One Man's Hero".
